Autonomous & self-driving labs

We develop autonomous, self-driving laboratories to build large-scale experimental datasets for AI-driven materials development. These data guide the rapid discovery and optimization of promising materials, while synthesis and measurements test predictions from AI and atomistic modeling.

The question

Accelerate materials discovery.
Close the loop with experiments.

How can large-scale experimental data and autonomous experimentation accelerate materials discovery, optimization and the validation of model predictions?

Our approach

Connect automated synthesis and measurements with structured data collection, AI-guided experiment selection and feedback from each result to search compositions and processing conditions.

Connected research

AI and atomistic modeling propose promising materials and testable predictions. Autonomous synthesis and measurements validate those predictions, expand experimental datasets and guide the next cycle of discovery and optimization.

Research goals

We expand and integrate AI agents and self-driving laboratories (SDLs) to accelerate battery materials discovery. Our platforms collect large experimental datasets, identify promising materials, optimize compositions and synthesis conditions, and validate predictions from AI and atomistic modeling through synthesis and measurements.

Our next goal is to add new experimental modules and connect these platforms through AI agents to build a Self-driving Center for battery materials development, covering materials design, synthesis, characterization and cell-level testing.

Our self-driving laboratories

Our group has developed several AI agents and established three SDLs for battery materials research.
